For 50 years now, Peter Gaymann has played a key role in shaping this country’s cartoon and humour scene. His drawings
appear millions of times in leading media, on posters, postcards, in over 100 books, on calendars, stamps, or as high-quality
editions.
To date, he has created an incredible 20,000 drawings. The anniversary exhibition presents the best of them, including several world premieres.
“Laughing in Crazy Times” is an equally captivating and humorous journey through time, tracing Gaymann’s life and work.
How are his cartoons created? His travel sketches? How and when did he come up with the chicken that became his humorous trademark?
How did the exchange with colleagues such as Janosch, F. K. Waechter, Robert Gernhardt or Tomi Ungerer come about? And what – sometimes bizarre –
questions do journalists or fans occasionally ask him?
The exhibition provides an answer to (almost) everything: Gaymann offers insights into his studio; explains how his works are created; what influences his
creativity; and presents his artistic journey through life in Freiburg/Baden, Italy, Cologne, and now in Schäftlarn in Upper Bavaria.

You can currently reach the NKT by regional train only via the Tübingen-Lustnau station (approx. 20-minute walk).

The NKT is located on the Neckar cycle path and can be reached by bike from Tübingen city center in under ten minutes.
Our parking lot has two spaces for wheelchair users. The entrance to the NKT is suitable for wheelchair users and strollers. All floors of the NKT are accessible by elevator, which features wide doors and low-positioned controls for wheelchair users and children. On the first floor, the restrooms are barrier-free. Sufficient seating is available on all floors and in the exhibition rooms. A wheelchair can be borrowed at the ticket desk.
