Coexistences. The Animal We See

The exhibition “Coexistences” is on view at the same time as the exhibitions “95 Years of Janosch” and “Elvira Bach”.
In the exhibition Coexistences. In “The Animal We See”, artist and art historian Sophie Godzik explores questions of coexistence between different species. The works on display were created in the context of her doctoral project, which engages with questions in Human-Animal Studies. The exhibition is to be understood as a creative personal interpretation of this research: theoretical concepts are not illustrated, but translated into artistic spaces for thought and experience. Across a richly varied selection of media such as photography, printmaking, painting and sculpture, a dialogue unfolds between humans and animals that questions habitual ways of seeing—less as an answer and more as an invitation to an ethical and aesthetic redefinition of coexistence.
